Job Overview
Carepoint Horizon is seeking a Full-Time Family Physician / General Practitioner to join our community-based medical clinic in Red Deer, Alberta. We have been providing high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services since 1986 and are expanding to meet ongoing patient demand in Central Alberta.
This position is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and foreign-trained physicians who are eligible for licensure in Alberta. This role is being advertised to address a demonstrated physician shortage in the region and is suitable for LMIA purposes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary medical care to patients of all ages
- Assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and laboratory results
- Develop and manage individualized treatment and follow-up plans
- Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records using EMR systems
- Provide preventive care, health education, and patient counseling
- Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners, pharmacists, and clinic staff
- Coordinate referrals and continuity of care as required

- Hours of Work: 35–40 hours per week
- Work Setting: In-clinic primary care in Red Deer, Alberta, with limited virtual care services for Alberta‑based patients
- Start Date: As soon as possible following work authorization
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation Model: Fee-for-service or contract-based compensation
- Expected Annual Gross Earnings: Approximately $390,000–$400,000, consistent with the average Family Physician income in Red Deer, Alberta [ca.indeed.com]

Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical degree (MD) from an accredited medical school
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
- Completion of Family Medicine residency or equivalent
- Certification or eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) preferred
- Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
