Family Caregiver

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable Family Caregiver to provide personalized care and companionship to two seniors in a private home, as well as perform light household duties. You will work under the direction of the family to ensure the comfort, safety and well-being of our parents.


Key Responsibilities

  • Personal & Mobility Assistance
    • Assist with activities of daily living: bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting and transfers
    • Aid with mobility and ambulation (walking, wheelchair assistance)
    • Provide companionship, engage in conversation and encourage mental stimulation
  • Meal Preparation & Feeding
    • Plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals in accordance with dietary needs
    • Assist with feeding and ensure proper hydration throughout the day
  • Health-Related Support
    • Remind and assist with medication schedules (under family direction)
    • Observe and report any changes in health, mood or behavior to the family
  • Light Housekeeping
    • Perform general tidying: dishes, laundry, bed-making and vacuuming
    • Dusting, wiping down surfaces and maintaining a clean, safe environment
    • Run errands as needed (grocery shopping, pharmacy pick-ups, mail drop-off)
  • Record Keeping & Communication
    • Keep simple logs of daily care activities and any notable observations
    • Communicate openly with the family regarding scheduling, supplies and client needs

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & Training
    • Secondary school diploma or equivalent (required)
    • First Aid & CPR certification (required or willingness to obtain)
    • Certificate or coursework in home support, elder care or related field (an asset)
  • Experience
    • Minimum 1 year caring for seniors, persons with disabilities or similar caregiving role
    • Experience in a private-home setting preferred
  • Skills & Attributes
    • Empathetic, patient and trustworthy with strong interpersonal skills
    • Good physical stamina; able to lift up to 20 kg safely
    • Organized, detail-oriented and able to work with minimal supervision
    • Clear communication in English and in Chinese.

Experience: 1-year to less than 2-years

Carpenter Trade Certification

 

Tasks:

Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Supervise other workers. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
