Crane Service Technician

Salary : $33.00 per hour , full time 40 hours per week, permanent , regular employment

Requirements: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, 7-12 months of experience,  some electrical /mechanical vocational courses an asset. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, Fall Arrest Protection Training Course,  Equipment and machinery experience: crane, overhead crane, hoists or winches .  Weight handling: more than 45 kg (100 lbs).  Personal suitability: accurate, reliability, team  player, organized,  with attention to detail.

Tasks

  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Order parts and maintain inventory
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Keep maintenance reports and documentation
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Service attachments and working tools
  • Perform other routine maintenance

Responsibilities:

Tasks

  • Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units
  • Estimate materials, labour, tools and equipment
  • Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing
  • Construct and install prefabricated masonry units
  • Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
  • Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools
  • Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces
  • Lay radial bricks to build masonry shells of industrial chimneys
  • Lay or install firebricks to line industrial chimneys and smokestacks
  • Line or reline furnaces, kilns, boilers and similar installations using refractory or acid-resistant bricks, refractory concretes, plastic refractories and other materials
  • Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures
